Duas (Supplications) from Quran/Hadith:

 

Allah Says in the Quran,

“Your Lord has said, “Call on Me, and I will answer your prayers.” But those who are too arrogant to worship Me will certainly enter Hell, in disgrace. “ (Surah Gafir, Ayah 60)

This verse indicates the importance of asking dua or praying to Allah.

Here are some duas which are very frequently asked on day to day basis:

1) Dua before sleeping :

اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

Allahumma bismika amootu wa ahya

O Allah! In Your Name do I live and die.

(Sahih al-Bukhari)


2.) Dua after waking up

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ.

Alhamdu lillahil-lathee ahyana ba’da ma amatana wa-ilayhin-nushoor.

All praise is for Allah who gave us life after having taken it from us and unto Him is the resurrection.

(Al-Bukhari 11:113, Muslim 4:2083)


3.) Dua before starting anything

بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem

In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

(Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (s)


4.) Dua after finishing a meal

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِى اطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا ، وَجَعَلنَا مُسْلِمِينَ

Alhamdulilahil ladhi at’amana, wasaqana, waj’alna min-al Muslimeen

Praise be to Allah Who has fed us and given us drink and made us Muslims

5.) Remembrance after Salah - 1

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ . (ثَلاثاً) اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلاَمُ، وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ، تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ .

Astaghfirul-lah (three times) Allahumma antas-salam waminkas-salam, tabarakta ya thal-jalali wal-ikram.

I ask Allah for forgiveness.(three times) O Allah, You are As-Salam and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O Possessor of majesty and honour.’ AS-Salam: The One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies.

6.) Remembrance after Salah – 2

لَا إلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ، وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ، وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ.

La ilaha illal-lahu wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul-mulku walahul-hamd, wahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeer, allahumma la maniAAa lima aAAtayt, wala muAAtiya lima manaAAt, wala yanfaAAu thal-jaddi minkal-jad.

None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent.O Allah, none can prevent what You have willed to bestow and none can bestow what You have willed to prevent, and no wealth or majesty can benefit anyone, as from You is all wealth and majesty.

7.) Before entering toilet

. اللَّهُـمَّ إِنِّي أَعُـوذُ بِـكَ مِـنَ الْخُـبْثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ.

(Bismil-lah) allahumma innee aAAoothu bika minal-khubthi wal-khaba-ith

(In the name of Allah). O Allah, I take refuge with you from all evil and evil-doers.

(Al-Bukhari 1:45, Muslim 1:283)


8.) After leaving toilet

غُفْرَانَكَ

Ghufranak

I ask You (Allah) for forgiveness.

(Zadul-Ma'ad 2:387)


9.) Duas for Protection from Shaitaan

وَقُلْ رَّبِّ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزٰتِ الشَّيٰطِيْنِ. وَاَعُوْذُ بِكَ رَبِّ اَنْ يَّحْضُرُوْنِ.

Rabbi ‘a`outhubika min hamazaatish-shayaateeni, wa ‘a`outhu bika rabbi ‘ay-yahdhuroon

My Lord! I seek refuge with You from the whisperings (suggestions) of the Shayatin (devils). And I seek refuge with You, My Lord! lest they may attend (or come near) me.

( Surah Al-Mu'minoon - 23:97-98 )

أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطانِ الرَّجِيْمِ

A'oothu bikalimaatil-laahit-taammaati min sharri maa khalaqa

I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

A'oothu bikalimaatil-laahit-taammaati min sharri maa khalaqa

I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

10.) Duas for Repentance

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ الَّذِي لاَ إِلَهَ إلاَّ هُوَ الحَيُّ القَيّوُمُ وأَتُوبُ إِلَيهِ

Astaghfirullaah alladhee laa ilaaha illaa huwal hayyul qayyoomu wa atoobu ilayhi

I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, Whom there is none worthy of worship except Him, the Living, the Eternal, and I repent to Him, Allah will forgive him even if he has deserted the army's ranks.

ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبِّي عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

Dhalikumu Allahu rabbee alayhi tawakkaltu wa-ilayhi uneeb

(And say O Muhammad SAW to these polytheists:) Such is Allah, my Lord in Whom I put my trust, and to Him I turn in all of my affairs and in repentance.

(Surah  Ash-Shuraa - 42:10)
